UK SORA SAIL 1 & 2 COMPLIANCE SUPPORT

We help organisations secure operational authorisations efficiently by addressing key challenges:

Transitioning from OSC to SORA – Convert your existing Operational Safety Case (OSC) approval into a compliant UK SORA application. Reduced distances from uninvolved parties.  VLOS operations in urban environments. BVLOS with visual mitigation.

New SORA Applications – Structure an application when operations don’t fit Open Category or PDRA01.

Optimisation & Efficiency – Ensure your SORA application is as generic as possible to minimize the need for multiple applications. Keep risk levels manageable, for example to fit into SAIL 2, to minimise your cost of compliance.

SUPPORT TO INNOVATORS & MORE ADVANCED SAIL CASES

BVLOS in Atypical Air Environments (AAE)

Atypical Air Environment “AAE” is a volume of airspace where no other manned/crewed aircraft is expected to be operating, for example just above assets or buildings that are inspected by drones.

Atypical Air Environment is an incremental step to facilitate Beyond Visual Line of Sight “BVLOS” operations in lower risk environments.

Operations in AAE is a stepping-stone for BVLOS, unlocking economic value while accumulating industry experience and flight hours.

We help you leverage the UK CAA’s AAE framework (introduced in CAP 3040, October 2024) to expand operational possibilities.

SORA Compliance for UAS Manufacturers (SAIL 3)

The SORA process is a comprehensive risk assessment methodology designed to classify the risk posed by UAS operations and identify necessary mitigations and safety objectives. At SAIL 3, a number of Operational Safety Objectives, or “OSOs”, in relation to the UAS itself kicks-in. Typically, OSO5 “UAS is designed considering system safety and reliability” must be met at a Low Level of Robustness  at SAIL 3.

Manufacturers design the technology. Our goal is to guide them through the complexities of the SORA requirements, ensuring that their drones meet the specific assurance and integrity levels required for SAIL 3 operations.
